Alphabet

One of the most useful "inventions" of all time is the Alphabet, an abstract idea contrived from the pictograms. However, although it might appear deceptively simple, it wasn't exactly the easiest "invention" to come up with.

The Roman Alphabet

The Roman Alphabet has the ability to to express a wide range of sounds and expressions although it has a limited number of 26 alphabets due to the "mix-n-match" nature of the alphabet. Some may consider it an improvement from the pictogram age as although it has a learning curve that is not as steep as the pictogram "language" (having only 26 signs, compared to the unlimited number of pictograms!), it also allows for an almost limitless number of words due to the huge number of combinations it can reach.

The place and history of the alphabets are still in a mystery as no one has unravelled the mysteries of the origins of alphabets yet. However, what we do know is that the Roman Alphabet is based on the Greek alphabet with extra letters added on. Due to the vast reach of the Roman Empire in its heyday, their language became almost universal, which is why it doesn't come as a surprise when our modern alphabet is based their Latin script, only with medieval adding of "J", "U" and "W", which
